Friday, February 17, 2023, The First Counselor Lawrence Manzi welcomed High school students attending the 2023 high school Model UN conference in Washington D.C for a visit to the Embassy. They learned about Rwanda’s pre/post-colonial history, the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, and how Rwanda overcame all the hurdles and rebuilt through unity, reaching its current state with collective effort.

Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and its other multilateral bodies where students perform an ambassador role while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health, and more.
