Rwandan Congressional Breakfast at Capitol Celebrates Growing US-Rwanda Partnership

The event aimed to celebrate the friendship between the United States and Rwanda and foster greater cooperation and partnership between the two nations.

Distinguished guests from various political, diplomatic, and religious circles graced the occasion.
In his remark, Mississippi’s Representative Trent Kelly appreciated the friendship shared between Rwanda and Africa as a whole. He praised Rwanda as a beautiful country and lauded its leadership “Rwanda is a beautiful country you have such a great leader and God-led leader.” His remarks emphasized the significance of nurturing relationships.

Ambassador of Rwanda to the United States, H.E Mathilde Mukantabana expressed gratitude to Kelly and his colleagues including Representative Ron Estes of Kansas and Representative James Baird of Indiana, both of whom were present at the event, for their contribution to fostering strong bonds of friendship between Rwanda, Africa, and the United States. She hailed their willingness to co-host such events, emphasizing the significance of personal engagement in building fruitful partnerships. “What you’re doing in the right way to go about it. You can’t talk about partnership without really knowing the people.”

Ms. Yolande Makolo, the Spokesperson of the Government of Rwanda emphasized the contribution of Representative Trent Kelly and his colleagues to the positive impact of longstanding relationships and collaborative efforts between Rwanda and the United States: “We are grateful for the friendship and contributions that everyone has made to our country that is growing every day. The friendship over the years has contributed to the amazing things Rwanda has been able to achieve”.

The event was attended by 10 Ambassadors from various countries, along with senior congressional staffers, Think Tanks, academia, representatives of the Rwandan community, and others.
